15 MINS
30 MINS
Serves 2-4
INGREDIENTS
4 bone-in, skin-on chicken legs (about 680g)
240ml buttermilk
175g plain flour
5g cayenne pepper
5g paprika
2.5g garlic powder
2.5g salt
2.5g black pepper
60ml hot sauce (adjust to your spice preference)
Cooking spray (for the air fryer)
METHOD
1. Marinate and Coat the Chicken:
Marinate the chicken legs in buttermilk for at least 30 minutes. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, cayenne pepper, paprika, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper. Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, and coat it with the flour mixture.
2. Preheat the Air Fryer:
Preheat the air fryer to 190°C for about 5 minutes.
3. Air Fry the Chicken:
Lightly grease the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Place the coated chicken legs in the basket, ensuring they are not crowded. Air fry for 15-18 minutes, flip the chicken, and air fry for an additional 12-15 minutes or until the chicken reaches an internal temperature of 74°C.
4. Prepare the Hot Sauce:
While the chicken is cooking, mix the hot sauce with a bit of melted butter if desired for a milder flavour.
5. Serve:
Once the chicken is cooked and golden brown, brush it with the spicy hot sauce mixture. Serve your Nashville Hot Chicken with pickles and bread for an authentic touch
