Easy Weeknight Meals with British Beef

Simple, flavour-packed meals to make the most of British beef

Simple, flavour-packed recipes to enjoy during National Beef Week.

With National British Beef Week here, it’s a great time to make the most of simple, satisfying meals that are easy to cook at home. British beef is known for its quality and flavour, making it a reliable choice for everything from quick midweek dinners to more relaxed weekend cooking.

With a few everyday kitchen essentials like an air fryer, a slow cooker or a versatile multi cooker, it’s easy to create meals that don’t take much effort but still deliver on flavour.

1. Quick Beef Stir Fry

A great go-to when you need something fast, fresh and full of flavour.

  • Ingredients: 300g beef strips, mixed vegetables, 2 tbsp soy sauce, 1 tbsp honey, 1 tsp ginger.
  • Method: Heat a pan until hot, cook the beef for 2–3 minutes, then add vegetables and sauce. Stir fry for a further 5–6 minutes until everything is cooked through.

A 28cm wok works well here, helping you cook quickly at a high temperature.

2. One-Pot Beef Bolognese

A classic midweek meal that’s simple to make and easy to scale up for leftovers.

  • Ingredients: 500g minced beef, 1 onion, 2 garlic cloves, 1 tin chopped tomatoes, 1 tbsp tomato purée, mixed herbs.
  • Method: Brown the beef with onion and garlic, then add the remaining ingredients and simmer for 20–30 minutes until thickened.

Cooking in a 30cm low casserole makes it easy to bring everything together in one pan.

3. Slow Cooker Beef Chilli

A great option for busy days when you want dinner ready and waiting.

  • Ingredients: 500g minced beef, 1 onion, 1 tin chopped tomatoes, 1 tin kidney beans, 1 tbsp chilli powder, 1 tsp paprika.
  • Method: Brown the beef and onion first (or use the sear function on your multi cooker), then transfer everything and cook on low for 6–8 hours until rich and full of flavour.

For dishes like chilli, both a slow cooker and a multi cooker work really well. A slow cooker is perfect for a hands-off approach, while a multi cooker lets you sear and slow cook in one pot for deeper flavour with less washing up.

4. Air Fryer Steak Bites

Perfect when you want something quick but still satisfying.

  • Ingredients: 2 beef steaks (cut into chunks), 1 tbsp olive oil, salt and pepper.
  • Method: Toss the steak in oil and seasoning, then cook at 200°C for 8–10 minutes, shaking halfway through.

An air fryer helps give you a crisp finish while keeping the centre tender.

5. Simple Beef Burgers

As the weather warms up, burgers are an easy way to bring a more relaxed feel to weeknight meals.

  • Ingredients: 500g minced beef, salt, pepper, burger buns and toppings.
  • Method: Shape into patties, season, then cook for 8–10 minutes, turning halfway, until cooked through.

Cooking on a standing electric BBQ grill is a simple way to enjoy outdoor-style cooking.
