Air Fryer Tomato Basil Pasta

16 Oct 2023

20 MINS

6 MINS

Serves 2

INGREDIENTS
225g of your favourite pasta
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, finely chopped
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 tin of crushed tomatoes
1 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
Salt and pepper to taste
1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (adjust to your spice preference)
85g grated Parmesan cheese
Fresh basil leaves, for garnish (optional)

METHOD

1. Preheat Your Air Fryer:
Preheat your air fryer to 175°C

2. Cook the Pasta:
In a large pot, boil water and cook the pasta according to the package instructions until al dente.
Drain the pasta and set it aside.

3. Sauté the Onions and Garlic:
In a skillet or pan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onions and cook until they become translucent, about 2-3 minutes. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for another 30 seconds until fragrant.

4. Prepare the Tomato Sauce:
Add the crushed tomatoes to the skillet with the sautéed onions and garlic. Stir in dried basil, dried oregano, salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes. Simmer the sauce for about 5-7 minutes, allowing it to thicken slightly.

5. Mix Pasta and Sauce:
Combine the cooked pasta with the tomato sauce and mix well to coat the pasta evenly.

6. Air Fry:
Transfer the pasta and sauce mixture to the air fryer basket. Cook in the air fryer at 175°C for about 4-5 minutes, or until the pasta gets a slightly crispy texture on the outside. You may want to stir it once or twice during the cooking process.

7. Serve:
Once the pasta is done, remove it from the air fryer.Sprinkle grated Parmesan cheese over the top.
Garnish with fresh basil leaves if desired.

TIP

Keep in mind that the exact times may vary depending on your specific air fryer model, so be sure to monitor the pasta in the air fryer to achieve the desired level of crispiness.
